2011 Spirit of Christmas

Santa (Sandy Hale) brought some real Christmas cheer to two families assisted by the Debbie Chisholm Memorial Foundation. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Raul Custodio, his wife Marsha and there “eight” children (in Yucca Valley) as well as Jose and Kim Aviles with their two children (in Mead Valley) met Santa up close and personal.

Santa Sandy made his way to each home assisted by Riverside County Sheriffs Deputies (Perris Station), CDF Fire (#59 Perris), San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies (Morongo Basin Station) and CDF Fire (#59 Perris). None of the kids knew Santa was coming or that he would arrive sitting inside a big fire engine loaded with gifts being led by a police escort! As you can tell from the pictures the kids were beyond excited and the Firefighters and Deputies got to meet some wonderful families.

One little guy, Ian Aviles, unfortunately missed out on the festive occasion because he was at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital undergoing treatment for a serious illness. Not to worry though because DCMF made sure that presents were taken to him at Loma Linda right after the gift delivery to his family. Over $15,000 in toys and gifts were distributed to the two families who have sick children and their Christmas was one to remember.
